You can eat it when young, let it climb all over your garden for a beautiful aesthetic, AND harvest it when it matures, cut it up, and use as a scrub brush or shower sponge. The trick to growing luffa is to start it early indoors. The seeds are large and hard, so clipping or scraping a TINY bit of the edge will help moisture get inside the seed and speed up sprouting.
