2014年6月15日 · I am welding up some 1/8th inch by 2 inch by 4 inch HRS coupons for TIG welding practice. Scratch start, around 85-90 amps, 3/32 gold band tungstens, #5 gas lens cup/gas lens collet body, 15 CFH of argon. I am using 1/16th inch ER 70s2 filler. Welding butt joints, non beveled, with a 1/16th gap or slightly less.

2022年3月23日 · Do not use a gas lens when TIG welding Aluminum. Use a small cup size. Use a large cup size. Use a gas flow of 30 scfh Use a maximum of 15 scfh etc., etc. I do not presently weld for a living but have TIG welded since the mid-seventies, with a 20 year break in the middle during which time welders changed from 700lb. monsters to PC sized inverters.

2006年5月6日 · Here are the settings from my TIG calculator for 16ga (1/16") stainless steel. (Unfortunately, the calculator does not list mild steel, so stainless is what I usually use as a starting reference) Butt joint: 1/16" tungsten, 1/4 - 3/8" cup orfice, 1/16" filler rod, AC current, 60 - 80 amps, argon gas, 15 cfm, 20psi, 12" per minute weld speed.

2010年10月26日 · Some aluminum alloys are highly susceptible to "hot cracking", to the point where they are referred to generally as "not weldable". You can change the metallurgy of the weld joint however with filler rod selection and amount of filler rod dilution (how much filler rod you melt into the weld bead, compared to how much parent metals you melt.)

Tig welding retaining pins from 316 rod and a 316 washer
I work at an aluminum welding shop building marine platforms, bridges, gangways, etc. one of our stock items that I make are stainless hinge pins made from usually a piece of 1 inch 316 rod, cut to length, a hole drilled for a cotter pin on one end, and on the other end, a 316 washer that's smaller than the rod is welded on top (a 7/8 washer in the case of 1 inch rod) to give a shoulder.

A welder at work who specializes in TIG and does alot of stainless recommended I use 1/16 rod and run on the colder side, going back after that with some passes to tie it in better. He recommended 60A.

2024年11月12日 · I was able to TIG fill/level the jaw using 308 filler. It did crack on the area where 308 touched cast iron. I cut it out and filled using nickel stick. To summarize: Cast iron is welded over using Nickel rod. Large volume is filled with 7018. Tig welding with 308 filler was used to fill and level gaps left from 7018.
