Question about T Slot hardware - The Hobby-Machinist
Oct 9, 2017 · For regular T nuts, just go buy some, but I like to make up dedicated hold downs for common tooling. I also find it useful to have some full depth T nuts to get more thread when using standard bolts to hold stuff down (regular T nuts don't usually use the full depth of the slot). Also, it is handy to have a few T nuts that have smaller threads.

Oct 20, 2017 · Another question: what do you guys use for indicating where to put your vice and such? I was thinking of making some T-nuts with just a low profile setscrew and a locating hole sort of like the tormach ones, but was wondering if there is a better way.

Jan 9, 2016 · Thanks RJ. I ordered a couple of partially threaded t-nuts from McMaster today, and will start looking for a (better) vice this weekend. The top slot on this table is indeed 5/8. It seems large for this type and size of table, but it is what it is... 1/2-13 hardware appears to be the most common for this size slot.

Mar 3, 2020 · I am contemplating making a set of T-nuts for a new-to-me rotary table with a 3/4" wide slot with a 1/2" wide opening. I have T-nuts that I made in the past which are 0.685" wide. I was contemplating making the new nuts ~0.730" for the 0.750" slot.

May 13, 2019 · After seeing a T-slot cleaner/scraper on a video, I decided this would be an great addition to help me clean out these hard to access slots. So, I took some 1" wide by 1/8" think Aluminum and milled it as shown. I used Aluminum since it's softer than the mill table and I didn't want to damage it.

Jan 5, 2020 · Moore made table extensions which just bolted to the rotary table and then there was a t-slot on the outer extension on one side. They are hardened and ground and as accurate as everything Moore made. I took a couple of pictures of what I'm talking about. The idea should probably be transferable if you wanted to make your own.

Jun 15, 2013 · A quick Internet search shows that the t-slot opening width is 5/8". If I am not mistaken, the BXA holders have a 5/8" bolt to secure them to the compound. To me that doesn't leave a lot of room for a thread. You might be better off using an AXA post, with its 9/16" bolt.

Nov 28, 2013 · It appears that most cutters sold for t-slotting are too big for this job, but cutters sold as Key-Seating tools for cutting woodruff key slots can be the right size. I can get one which will cut the slot depth at .125 (maybe a bit too much) and .375 wide. which would require 2 more passes to make slot wide enough for the .375 wide Sherline Tee ...

I measured the T-slots on my table and got these numbers: Width at top of T-slot: .5580" - this is just slightly less than 9/16" Width at bottom of T-slot: .9665 - this comes out to about 31/32" There are three sets I am looking at from Enco. 1/2" Slot size, 3/8" studs:
