My surgeon wants to try an intra-articular steroid injection (followed by 4 more weeks of PT - I’ve already done 6 months) before we discuss surgery. I’ve had these injections in other body parts with no relief. Has anyone gotten relief or avoided surgery after injections?

2024年2月1日 · I ended up going to urgent care and then my doctors office due to severe hip pain. They told me all my symptoms fit the diagnosis of a hip labral tear. Not sure how it happened though. I ended up getting an MRI which showed a nearly circumferential tear to my right labrum. I also received the steroid injection in my hip.

Surgeon wants to confirm my pain is coming from my hip, so ordered an injection. I do not want the steroid, but she agreed that just getting lidocaine will be fine. Has anyone had this done before/what was your experience?

2023年9月21日 · I ended up getting my two FAI lesions removed and a labral tear repaired. Arthroscopy is minimally invasive and could be a good option. The steroid injection first is a sensible step IMO. Even though the surgery is minimally invasive, it's still much more invasive, and healing can be tough.
Anyone have experience with a labral tear in their hip?
I got a steroid injection, and it made everything 10x worse. The first orthopedist I saw immediately recommended surgery, even though I had no arthritis or evidence of an impingement. I ended up getting a second opinion, because my pain isn't exactly traditional labral tear pain (more deep in my glutes than groin).
