Icons are images used to represent custom tools, tasks, workflows, and context menu items. The icons can be standard MicroStation icons that you can create or customize. They can be Bitmap images or icons imported from ICO, DLL, EXE, DGN, or DGNLib files.
MicroStation - Creating Tool Icons - Communities
When creating tools, you may need to create custom icons. MicroStation is now Windows compliant, and is able to use *.ico's as Windows does. Another option would be to generate a bitmap outside of MicroStation, then use the bitmap image for your icon.
To Import an Icon from an ICO File - Bentley Systems
In the Customize dialog (File > Settings > Configuration > Customize) click the Icons tab. Click the arrow on the Import Icons icon and select From ICO Files. The Select ico Files to Import dialog opens. Navigate to the ICO file(s) you want to import, select them, and click Open.
