What is the proper way to install the canvas sling on a M1
2004年10月16日 · Once you get good at using a sling, and once you get good a building a really stable prone position, and espcially if you use a shooting coat to tighten up your shoulders, you will no longer need a bench to sight in or shoot a rifle. I have shot 3/4" groups with my scoped Howa 1500 from a sling supported prone, wearing a shooting coat and glove.

2010年3月19日 · Jim Owens has a good book on installing slings and how to use them. But he shot on the Marine Corps team and they install the sling backwards from the link posted above. Either way, properly installed it can be quickly adjusted between carry and shooting. Unfortunately, I can show someone better than I could hope to describe it.

Web slings weren't even authorized, and Rock Island wasn't producing many until after the very end of 1941. The earlier Kerr and similar slings were NEVER standard on any rifle after about 1925, and "standard" is mis-applied even to the M.1923.

2018年3月20日 · I have a WW II web M1 Garand sling. It's the type with the flat keeper and raised button on the front tab. My issue is that I can't get the raised button through the keeper. It's really tight and I can't get it through even using a lot of force. I don't want to damage anything. Am I missing something here?

2013年7月5日 · Unless the lower band is distorted, the first thing is to install a new pin. If a roll pin, (actually a tension pin) won't tighten it up, you can make an over-sized solid pin. Usually with a combination of a new lower band and a new pin you can get a tighter fit. The problem is getting a new/like new band.

I took a nice Racker and had a great spare barrel on hand.

2015年4月28日 · Possibly the various hole positions are numbered. I use 07 slings by Turner Saddlery. These are very nice. The sling holes are numbered which makes it very easy to shift the sling from parade position to various positions needed for shooting prone and sitting to carry in the woods and fields. You have a beautiful M-1 Garand.
