Jul 31, 2013 · That is an important question. A Tormach seems to be a high-end home CNC machine that's not up to industry quality. Personally I will be going with a Tormach to start a professional shop (starting in my garage) because I can't afford industry quality yet, and I hope to never take a loan (other than a mortgage), and I know it will get me started.

Apr 5, 2016 · CNC is nice but it kills the old school machinists,before if you wanted to become a turner that you had to learn a lot of years,after CNC became more accessible things have changed. I've seen courses for CNC machine operators,that lasted only 3 months,after which the person is considered to be certified.....

Jan 12, 2003 · The machine pulls about 100 amps max with 0-12k rpm spindle accel and simultaneous 100% three axis rapid, 3 hp coolant pump, both conveyors, light, and tool prestaging all at the same time. This is for less than a second. Generally speaking, the machine uses 20-30 amps when finish cutting at 12k rpms, which is the majority of the time it lives.

Here is my problem, how the hell do you move it without a forklift. I thought I could completely disassemble it. and move it in parts.
Question about milling on BT-30 machines (DT-1, Speedio,etc)

All my pullstuds are from 1995-1998 and came with the toolholders I got with the machine (company name and date vibro etched into the toolholders and studs). Never had one break despite using a 3/4" endmill in a sidelock holder as my primary rougher/finisher.

Jul 14, 2014 · I need to do some machining on very long parts (approximately 9' long) which is much longer than the X travel on my CNC machines. I can run them on an open-sided bed mill so I can hang the parts off side of the machine. My X travel is around 40". I'm looking to achieve locational tolerances of around +/- 0.05" over the length.
