2012年9月10日 · These old eyes still shoot peep sights, well, so my traditional lever guns and other rifles that are not stocked with scopes in mind now wear peeps. Peeps have put back a lot of that old iron sight fun into my shooting, but, unfortunately, peep sights are not a solution for all rifles and, of course, even of more limited use on pistols.

2015年5月24日 · But the handgun sights are difficult for me to see anymore. I'm gonna go this route on my Rock Island .22 TCM. There are mounts for the Burris FF3 that go right into the rear sight dovetail. I was going to get new sights anyway as I like everything about my RIA .22TCM/9mm combo but the stock sights (and grips). And also one for my Mini-30.

2023年5月27日 · I was able to make good hits mush faster. I have always disliked the dots on the sights as they never equate to POI/POA and I prefer precision. Bullseye shooters always preferred clean black sights for a crisp sight picture. Think of the blain black as a hybrid solution. The red dot sights are a further distillation of the plain back sight.

2016年1月9日 · I have red dot sights, fuzzy front sights on my defensive weapons, and scopes on rifles. The good news is, even with cataract surgery and lens emplants with 20/30 vision, I have found what works for me. As I shot different sight configurations and styles, I have found the 3-dot sights to be the very best for me in terms of a defensive pistol.

2013年2月28日 · Old eyes suck, but a couple yrs ago I did pop one at 51 yards with a .357 iron sighted. But that gun was super accurate, deer facing away I aimed for the spine and got it (was maybe an inch or so higher than where aimed, but I had a 2" x 6" target zone I reckon.

2024年5月10日 · For small groups, the important thing is being able to accurately estimate the center of your sights and hold them in alignment with the target. I see many front sights that are about 1/8" wide. If you're off 1/64" in your estimate, that's 1/8 of the sight width. I file tapers to the top of such sights to cut the width in half.

2013年12月4日 · Tried XS sights a few times over the last decade. Just don't care for them. I have older eyes. Trijicon HD sights with orange front are on all of my Glock pistols. Orange shows up well. The rear dots have been blacked out with a sharpie. They still glow at night. Added advantage the front sight has a phosphor outer ring.

2016年8月7日 · I'm with Cal44, almost. I'm 78 and can shoot open sights, if they're really good sights, out to 25 yards depending on the target size. The targets I use most frequently have a 1 inch bull and a total of five inches. I get better results with C-More and Ultradot sights, even better results with telescopes.
