2010年12月29日 · I've got to frame a soffit that projects from wall and isn't supported above or below it. I'd like it to project 2' from the wall and be 1' in height. The longest span will go about 20' in length and needs only to support its drywall and a few recessed cans.

2010年7月28日 · Well with the 9 pitch and the length of the overhang meeting up with their style soffit, the soffit height for the screen porch was going to be 4" below the bottom of the 4x6. Below the 4x6 is our screen opening, which means we now have to fir down another 5-6" (provides nailer for the bed mold at the soffit) on all walls.

2013年4月22日 · I use a track bender. But Radius track will probably work. If you can draw it to dimension on the floor beneath where the the finished soffit will be that really helps. Sometimes you have to draw it on rosin paper and move that into place. Then you ca use a laser to plumb up and build it plumb and exact to dimension.

2010年2月9日 · Run some 20 gauge framing angle parallel to the duct work, cut some 14 inch rips of drywall screw them to the framing angle for your 14 inch drop. Once you have the drywall screwed to the angle that is screwed to your ceiling you can run a piece of angle along the bottom of the sheet and level across the wall that the soffit connects to.

2022年11月22日 · My contractor put 24" stud spacing on the vertical walls and on the soffits that frame in the HVAC with 2 x 4's, in our state it's to code. Should I have them come back and install 2x4s to make 16" on center? What about the soffit spacing on the ceiling? 16" or 24". I'm worried about sagging in the drywall on the ceiling. Please advise. Steel-stud "soffit" above serving counter - Contractor Talk
2011年4月28日 · This is meant to go over a serving counter at a coffee shop. Code is that it needs to be suspended above the counter and since the ceilings are 16' that's a lot of drywall and framing weight. The finished soffit will be approx 25 feet of a "Z" shape with the ends of the "Z" anchored to two walls. It'll be secured to the ceiling as well.
Soffit j trim on uneven stone surface - Contractor Talk
2015年11月13日 · Wonder what you think is the best option for installing soffit j trim on top of an uneven surface (see picture). I was thinking putting some wood underneath to hide the gaps between the soffit 3/8" j and the stone and then capping with aluminum. Any other ideas? Client had already finished the stone up past where the soffit should be.
