ES688F / OPL3 8bit ISA Sound Card - GitHub
This is a sound card for the ISA 8bit bus sporting the ES688F chip by ESS Technology and the YMF262 chip by Yamaha, also known as the OPL3. This board provides selectable Sound Blaster PRO / Sound Blaster emulation and OPL3 compatibility. It's completely jumper-configurable, requiring no software except the essvol utility to set the volume.

2019年3月8日 · I don't think there is a driver for the ESS688. It's non-PnP, just assign the resources to it and it's... there. Some versions don't have jumpers and require initialization (eg: exceedingly rare Compaq-branded cards like mine).

2019年10月12日 · ES688 is normally SB/SBPro compatible and I have never seen a card with the option to disable SBPro compatibility, and the ES688 chip has no MPU401 functionality normally and requires a TSR to enable that. Regarding the latter, I see there is a jumper that directly connects to the OPL3 chip so it probably manually sets it to OPL2.

1998年12月2日 · PNP cards are detected whether IRQ and memory addressing is misconfigured or not, except in the case of a jumper setting to disable/enable PNP. I would play with it a little just to make sure, but like you said, sound cards are cheap.
