A scenario in which the fans could reduce wood consumption significantly is if the stove (without fans) is required to run wide open to maintain comfort but could be run at half-throttle with the fans going and maintain the same temperature.

Then I was told it didn't work well on soapstone stoves because you need the top over 400 for it to get going good and soapstone doesn't get that hot. He was surprised when I told him I didn't have a problem getting over 400.

2015年11月10日 · I have one and I use it mostly to quickly judge the temp of the stove. During power outages it helps very little. Reason being it is supposed to goon the back of the stove and push air forward. There is no backof the stove on an insert, so the help is minimal. I use a computer fan rig hooked up to 9V and that works much better.

I'm sure there are some other brands that I haven't came across yet. Eco-Fan makes a fan for low heat stoves, but that wouldn't work for my old pre-EPA stove.

2011年3月6日 · So for my application, the ecofan falls into the general category of trying in vain to push hot air to a cooler area. Pushing the cool floor air to the stove gives noticeably better results. If the fan works for some people, that is great. But it does not work for me, and it costs quite a premium for something that can't do the job.

2010年12月22日 · To move heat to the rest of the house, a box fan on the floor blowing cooler air from the rest of the house to the stove area would work best. Not sure how a ceiling fan fits into this, but I doubt it would be as efficient as the box fan (but more attractive, certainly).

2017年9月25日 · Unlike a wood furnace that blows across a flue gas heat exchanger in the flue gas path, the stove fans blow on the stove to cool the stove. The wood furnace situation where you can extract wasted flue gas heat has a real chance of increasing efficiency. It is the theory behind the magic heat device as well.

2015年1月31日 · 530 sq ft is not much to heat. It shouldn't take much stove. One option I would consider is cutting down the current hearth to floor level, then extending it to accommodate a stove. This can be done so that there is a uniform surface in front of the fireplace. I would consider putting in a Woodstock Keystone or Blaze King Ashford 20 stove then.
