BIN shellac primer smell does not vanish with time
Oct 18, 2016 · I used bin shellac primer to seal the cigarette smell in the dry wall. I applied two layers of the primer at around 55 f to 60 f. The next day, I applied top paint which is Benjamin Moore regal select. However I found the smell from the BIN primer does not reduce over time. Now I have complaining customers. What should I do now?

I know one set of painted new mahogany garage doors and worked behind a repair guy who was replacing exterior cedar trim boards and preprimed them with BIN. Surprisingly, the cedar primed with BIN is giving us some bleeding hassles through solid acrylic stain.

I didnt realize it was for spot priming and that you couldnt use it for large surface areas. I'm in a climate in Canada with warm summers and cold winters. I've already applied the primer to the building but not the topcoat.

Nov 20, 2014 · My thoughts were to latex prime everything, then hit the water spots with two coats bin, and perhaps another of latex over the Binned spots before paint. I have had mixed results with cover stain and water marks and it is a little longer drying, whereas BIN always performs and you can be recoating after 15 min.
Sealing odor with BIN Shellac primer | Professional Painting ...
May 6, 2013 · From what I hear BIN Shellac primer is excellent for sealing in odor. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for additives or even a different product. I plan on spraying with a .013-.015 tip and painting with water based paint after. I will spray floors and ceilings as well of course.

Apr 25, 2015 · I applied Bin Advanced after cleaning with DN alcohol and scuff sanding with 80 grit on an orbital. I will rate my impressions on a 1-10 comparison scale to regular Bin shellac primer with a "10" being equal to the performance of regular Bin. Lower numbers will represent the degree to which I felt the Advanced fell short of the regular Bin.

BIN shellac with acrylic lacquer? - Professional Painting …
Aug 1, 2019 · Now you might ask why I used BIN as a primer. It covers MDF great and sands easily. BIN's product label says it works for any topcoat. That's not the case according to Rust-Oleum, only oil or water based house paint. OK, forget any fingerpointing, the job I did is ruined, but I have 9 other small items already BIN primed ready for acrylic lacquer!
