Disclaimer: I've watched a shit ton of animes from classics, to modern-day, and especially early 2000s. Big fan of Akira, Yuyu, HunterX etc. So take my review however you wish. Some thoughts:

It's my favorite anime ever. I think it's the closest we will get to a "worthy" Berserk anime, at least for a while. The voice acting, art style, sound design, OST. Stunning, i just wish it would have continued. In fact, i would be really happy just watching the Berserk 2016 and 2017 but re-done in the way the 1997 Berserk was made. I love it.

2020年11月6日 · Also, I would say Berserk earns it's masterpiece status in terms of story because of the many subtle character developments and interactions, most of which the anime misses (the relationship between Guts and Casca, and Griffith and Casca). The anime also skims over a lot of the politics in midland, which adds a lot to the world.

In the original Berserk comic by Mr. Miura, Puck plays a major role and is integral to Berserk, but in the animation of Berserk, Puck was taken out of the picture and it diminishes the fantastical nature a bit, but the lead characters and Guts and Griffith’s passion became the focus and became the common thread throughout the series.
