Pay/salaries for cad programs are not equal - From lowest to highest is AutoCAD -> Inventor (if you can even get a job) -> Solidworks/CREO -> CATIA/Siemens NX.

Solidworks just has a better subscription option in my opinion, and it's very similar. If you're hardcore ride or die inventor, I'd check out the education version folks are mentioning.

Inventor is for full 3D modeling, great for fully defining a product or tool, or adding parametric variables to a design. Inventor allows assemblies that can constrain the relationships between parts. Inventor has evaluation tools, (interference, draft angle, moldflow, and more).

No pierce curve option in sweep feature. I cannot create dimensions with planes. There's view Degrees of Freedom in Inventor which is useful to fully constrain sketches.
