2014年1月7日 · His interest in "bugs" gave him a strong draw toward Papa's bees, so I named everything after him. When the majority of the honey came from his personal hive, his eyes lit up on his joyful little face. When he helped paint hive boxes, he was as white as the boxes, but he had fun, and I was warmed to my heart. Jacobs Apiary is the name we chose.
What are the limits to growth? Expanding apiary.
2014年3月12日 · I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has ramped up the size of their apiary from a dozen or so to a couple hundred. I'm hoping to grow from my few hives to 250ish within a year or two. I'm grafting queens and planning to feed them back whatever honey they have left from the winter and also supplement with sugar throughout the warm months.

2014年4月17日 · So a choice was presented to Apiary Inspectors in 2006. One could either stay an Inspector and sell his bees or stay a Beekeeper and give up the inspection job. A simple chouice for anyone w/ very many hives. To quote a former Apiary Inspector and Commercial Beekeeper, "A poor year keeping bees beats a good year Inspecting."

2015年5月28日 · Today Is a very special in my Apiary, My out yards and my life! 50 years ago today I received my first nuc from my scout master, Mr. George Ackinclouse (A great Man, Beekeeper and leader) To earn my Bee keeping Merit badge. As I worked toward the requirement for Eagle Scout. I became so enthralled with them, I have had them ever since.

2011年8月17日 · "Isn't an apiary where they raise apes?" I love the Squeak Creek moniker. Did you locate to an already named feature or did you put a name on an unnamed creek? Years ago, we successfully named a "Turtle Creek" and the name stuck and I'm currently living at the junction of Salt Creek and an unnamed tributary. Been thinking of naming it.

2014年3月19日 · There was a thread here last month ... somebody down in Florida said their SHB problem dropped about 90% in the apiary that they concreted. Best guess is the larvae can cross concrete, but they're exposed to the sun and predators so it is deadly. I suspect they could get down thru just gravel, but the weedblock ought to help considerably.
