The reasonable mind is driven by logic, the emotional mind is driven by feelings, and wise mind is a middle-ground between the two. In DBT, clients will learn skills to use their wise mind and better manage their behavior.

The wise mind refers to a balance between the reasonable and emotional halves. They are able to recognize and respect their feelings, while responding to them in a rational manner. A person uses their reasonable mind when they approach a situation intellectually. They plan and make decisions based on fact.
Wise mind uses some input from emotion mind and some input from reasonable mind. It adds intuitive knowing. It focuses on getting things done. It focuses on the experience. It does not judge. Instructions: During the week, when situations arise practice the Wise Mind skill, and document the circumstances below.
The concept of Wise Mind, as developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD, who created Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), is about finding the balance between thinking and feeling in our lives. Wise Mind is the combination of your Rational (or Reasonable) Mind and your Emotion Mind. The Rational Mind is when your brain is in control.
