A while back I posted on here about the truck sucking air, which would cause the IP to lose prime, resulting in stalling after a driving a very short distance. With the help of some nice folks here, I narrowed it down to a leak at the tank pickup.

Aug 23, 2008 · Personally, I wouldn't do it. If you're going to prime, you might as well use paint. I don't think the HO understands the properties of cedar or stain. Cedar needs to breathe. Stains soak into the pores and hairs, it doesn't fill and seal, like paint does. Tanin or other chemicals can leach out past stain without removing it.

May 11, 2011 · The "gas" [fuel] cap does not cause a loss of prime-- the diesel truck runs fine with it on or off, and will not throw a code like a gas tank will-. You can use the pressure side of a shop vac to put pressure into the tank and look for leaks. Most likely it is at the filter head area. All it takes is one small leak for it to loose prime.
