Then when you are confident the washers are holding for the most part, remove the 2 x 4 and finish screwing in the rest of the plaster washers. Apply joint compound, at least 2 coats, feather it out, allow it to dry, sand, prime, repaint.

2008年2月4日 · A couple of tips that might help when working in old plaster and lathe: When cutting in walls locate the stud first and cut the farthest edge first. Go slow and this will minimize plaster damage. A "glo-stick" helps in getting past little road blocks when fishing wire down a joist. Hope these help and good luck. Jeff.

If the plaster should crack some time later, just patching it will probably hold it in place. Almost always, at least one piece of lath gets cut completely.
