Penske Car Carrier Trailer Rental W/Large Tires: My Experience
Feb 21, 2015 · The trailer towed very well, the Penske van was't that bad to drive. The tow/haul mode was nice with the engine breaking helping to slow the truck and trailer down. We drove the entire length of I-81 in Virginia, which includes some long grades (maybe not west-coast like, of course) where the van did fine.

Aug 1, 2007 · Option 1 Tow with a penske trailer jeep is 4400lbs with 37's Option 2 Buy a 16" trailer and haul it behind the Penske truck. Option 3. Drive from NY to Colorado with the jeep 37's 4.56's and a 3 speed auto. This will really suck. Need some help and advice here guys.

Jan 30, 2006 · I'm not really too worried about the trailer brakes. Surge brakes IMHO suck @ss. But since I have upgraded the brakes on the superduty it stops just find, I found out after the trailer brakes on my old trailer went out towing a car over a really steep windy pass in NorCal. Its nice to have a big fatass tow rig sometimes. :flipoff2:
Any experiences with Carry-On Trailers? - Pirate 4x4
Mar 21, 2014 · There is a carry on plant near me that was blowing out trailers a few years ago because of a flood. I figured I'd go take a look and get a good deal on a car hauler, I left without one. Everything I saw turned me away from them. Shitty welds, shitty paint, shitty wiring, cheap everything. I'd suggest looking somewhere else for a good trailer.
Open stacker trailer? - Pirate 4x4
Apr 14, 2009 · Basically its a standard trailer with a 4 post lift attached to it. I was thinking of something similar but at the front of the trailer have a ramp that is hinged. At the back of the ramp have a set of rams like on a commercial car hauler that lifts the back of the ramp. I think it would make the overall trailer weight lighter and be lower.

Jul 7, 2008 · Depending on your design and your fab abilities, 4x2x0.188 wall should be fine for a 7000# trailer. The trailer may easily approach 2000# although about 400# of that would be unsprung weight. So 7000 - 1600 = 5400 load capacity. If you factor in the tongue weight at 10%, you would technically have 5840# of load carrying capacity.

Aug 16, 2009 · RV / Camper / Van pulling trailer/dolly - Works fine, right setup might prove to be the trick for me. Tow rig pulling larger trailer with living quarters - not sure I want to pull that much. Tow Rig w/ truck camper pulling trailer - No truck, and the size truck needed to pull a sizable (and equally exspensive) TC make puts me backing to this loop.
Auto Crane 5004, Advice/opinions - Pirate 4x4
Aug 1, 2014 · I have the opportunity to pick up an Auto Crane 5004 with a 14' boom for next to nothing. This is an older model, looks to be late 80's, but haven't confirmed that yet. The guy I work for owns a salvage yard and buys tons of vehicles, so he never really knows that much about them. The crane is a cable operated boom and hoist.

Mar 17, 2009 · Generator start - auto generator control to keep batteries charged Batteries - 4 6-volts Battery charger - looking at the Progressive dynamics. A cheap inverter and the PD charger is much cheaper than a large Xantrex inverter charger, but not as good. Hope that was not too much of a sidetrack. :smokin:

Jun 4, 2003 · Yep, 7K trailer. I don't feel I need a 10K, 16 ft trailer. As far as weight, I figure the trailer at 1300 lbs and the Runner is max 4500 lbs. Gives me a grand to play with, and the Runner is gonna get lighter. Be aware that the Az-Tex is a "You get what you pay for" kind of trailer.
