Jul 25, 2014 · Been using tow bars for over 40 years. One trick learned is to make sure there is weight on front end. That wobble or slap can really be reduced by tossing a couple bags of sand over the gas tank in a VW bug. Try and tow a front engine car with out the engine with a tow bar and it will do exactly as you described above.

Nov 8, 2015 · You just dont want the tow bar hitting the bumper. It's all really simple to hook up - takes a couple minutes. You DO want to make sure you use safety chains and, depending on how far and the roads you are towing on, you may want to use those magnetic tow lights on the rear bumper of the bug. (super cheap at Harbor Freight)
