Hardie Panel Siding lighting and electrical fixtures
2018年5月30日 · Hello, I’m wondering what the best practice is for isnstalling electrical fixtures on James Hardie verticle siding panels. I know with the lap and shingles a mounting block is used for the fixture and then side up to the block. What about the verticle panels? Do I still use a block and cut a hole in the panel to fit around the block.

2011年5月30日 · Re: Hardie Siding butt joint spacing? Well I'm obviously going back a ways, because I remember Hardie used to call for a field joint, caulked. I too disagreed with the caulk, so we decided to leave a 1/16" gap, and not caulk. And that detail looks quite good. Hardie has changed their install details a few times since the product came out.

I have several choices: install the Hardie over the Tyvek (Tyvek says it's fine; Hardie says it's fine); OR, put at least one layer of Grade D paper over the Tyvek, then the siding; or, install a Rain Screen using say 1/2" x 1-1/2 ...

OTOH, it would be a shame to have pretty new Hardie siding next to old, beat up aluminum vents. I say replace them with new. Something that will stand up to the cement. Bill R

2009年5月6日 · James Hardie makes FC shingle siding as 4' width panels, and also as individual shingles. The panels are 16" high, and exposure is 7". That 16-to-7 factor means you buy 2.28 actual s.f. of product to cover one finished s.f. of wall. Contrast that with their clap siding product for 6" exposure, with its 7-1/4" height, the factor being only 1.21.

2007年4月18日 · For a long time, I've been sheathing and tyveking first, then installing windows. It didn't matter if it was brick, siding, or stucco. I would sheathe, use windowwrap on the sill, then tyvek. Install window. Use windowwrap to meld together flang and tyvek, then trim window in 2x material if using hardie siding so it would stand proud of the window.

I have tried several different air setings for my compressor. I seam to be blowing out the back side of the siding. becouse the foam compresses; it then pops the nail right through the siding.

2006年11月30日 · I would equate this to puting siding over stucco or block walls. Furring the walls out is the best bet. Being a waterfront home I don't know if they will let you blind nail the siding. Hardi can be installed over steel studs. I believe they require plywood sheeting & a WRB.
