2019年4月20日 · The “real” foil tape will feel a little like aluminum foil and will have a tendency to fold at sharp creases. The silver/plastic tapes tend to be more like “regular” tape and will resist making sharp creases. Try a quick wipe of the foil faced polyiso with some isopropyl alchohol, see if the tape sticks better after that.

Foil-faced EPS would work as well. Tape the seams. To gauge how much foam vs. fluffy insulation I follow the same rules as for condensation control in above-grade walls.

2014年11月17日 · Most drywall contractors hate installing drywall directly over foam, for the reasons you mention. One way to improve the situation is to install horizontal or vertical furring strips, 16 inches o.c., between the rigid foam and the drywall. If the rigid foam is foil-faced, this air space will have an R-value of R-2 or R-3.
foam board with foil and air gap or just more insulation
2024年1月26日 · I am planning on installing a 0.75 in., 2 sided foil faced foam board first before I install R-30/38 insulation. Insulation type not determined yet. I am reading conflicting ideas of weather to have an air gap or not. And if an air gap, how much, 05 to 1.5in. If foam board is installed, I plan on a loose board fit so moisture is not trapped.

2012年11月20日 · Locally we have available foil-faced on both sides. My understanding is to have only the exterior side foil faced. If using two layers of 1 inch, then should the board against the stud be unfaced? I've read the articles on rigid board insulation on the exterior and concerns of condensation. I live in a warmer part of zone 5B at 3,400 ft. elevation.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to procure the Halo branded seam tape. Some of the other tapes I have found are not for use in roof assemblies. In a worst-case scenario, I’ll just use an approved non-foil seam tape.
