As per your other reply - I also reduced mine by 5mgs- I bought a tablet cutter and cut my tablets in half etc. You will have side effects as 40 - 20 is quite a big jump, I gradually reduced mine over weeks/months and kept reducing them as per the Dr until I was totally off them.

I was taking 40mg citalopram for a few years. Even though they had seemed to stop working. Got referral to psychiatrist and he suggested a different tablet. 3 weeks ago my local doctor suggested withdrawal of citalopram at 20mg each day for 2 weeks then one week of 20mg every second day then 2 days of not taking it at all. Horrid side effects.

Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?
Mar 3, 2012 · Have gone back on 20;s as I started to get panic attacks. The only side effect I do not get is headache. I have read that Citalopram is the one that more people come off of. I want to find one that has the least side effects. Will keep in touch if I have any luck.I do get some comfort from what I read here. Good luck Caroline.
