May 8, 2008 · Stock rims are 5.5 in. wide. FJ60 chrome rims are 6.0 in. wide, both of which are on the narrow side for that tire, but will work just fine. They will wear ok pinched that tight? TLCA #23619. I ran 33x10.5 BFGs on stock steel wheels on my FJ40. You definitely will see the tire is pinched and has a cup/crown.

Jun 14, 2016 · I have stock wheels for my FJ40 (not lifted). The recommended stock size tire is 30x9.5r15. Is there a larger size tire I could go to? 31x10.5.15 fits nicely & looks a little better I think. If you can find them, you can also do a 33x9.5x15 on a stock height truck also I hear.

Apr 25, 2017 · By now I had replaced the three-speed transmission in the FJ40 with an H41, a four-speed with a low, 4.9:1 first gear. I thought that would allow me to install a slightly taller tire—and I was ready to dump the split rims and try alloy wheels. So on went a set of American Racing Outlaw II 16 x 7-inch wheels, and LT255/85 16 BFG Mud-Terrain tires.

Dec 14, 2005 · My setup is untested, just picked up the 38's. A friend is running a 2" body lift and 4" SUA lift with 37" MTR's. All he had to do was lengthen the rear wheel well. (also has flipped springs). '74 FJ40. all stock (ish) except springs. you'll need 2" bs rims to clear the inner tubs at rear. My ROTW thread...
