I had a cat that had a funky skin problem that no vet was able to really pin point the cause so I tried using some Chlorehexiderm shampoo twice weekly and after several weeks it finally went away and stayed away.

Then due to Crystal formation and 2 surgeries he was switched to Hills Pres, anti Crystal food. No crystals, but lots of skin allergies. Now he's been switched from that to Hills Pres. WD for blood levels.

I can manage somehow with the environmental allergies. She is an indoor cat and with proper surface and air cleaning, I think she could be fine. My issue is the food.

It might vary between different people, but I'd agree that the litter is probably a more likely culprit than the cats. I'm allergic to clay litters, they cause both sneezing and coughing/lung irritation for me.
