2012年8月8日 · Re: Tips to towing a small alum boat and 15hp outboard Don't know how old or agile you are but Merc 15hp might be on a 9.9 hp base outboard, which being a 2 stroke might be of a totable weight. I think they just change or adjust the carbs to get to 15 hp, at least this is my understanding. My 9.9 2005 Merc is a 4 stroke and it's a heavy sucker.

I used to have a Johnson 6 and I think that would as well, but I don't own it any more so I can't check. A used shift box can be had on ebay for less that $50, and new cables will run you about $15 each.

Years ago Bass and Walleye Boats did a dyno test on the yamaha 90 and I believe it made 81 hp at 5500 rpm they overreved it to 6000 and it made 91 hp. I don't believe you need to change your motor you have a good one. I ran a 70 hp evinrude on a 16' starcraft ss.

2013年9月20日 · The engine is a 1990 Yamaha 9.9 HP (the limit on the lakes I use) 2-cycle with a 20" shaft. The anti cavitation plate is about even with the bottom of the keel. The boat is rated at 30 HP max, the previous owner used a 25 HP, thus the old Yamaha has very few hours on it...runs great, and the impeller looks good.
