Coumaphos is a nonvolatile, fat-soluble phosphorothioate with ectoparasiticide properties: it kills insects and mites. It is well known by a variety of brand names as a dip or wash, used on farm and domestic animals to control ticks, mites, flies and fleas.

Information was provided on the authorized or otherwise recommended uses of coumaphos. Coumaphos controls a range of pests on all domestic animals and is used in bee -keeping (Table 1). The compound is registered and used in 32 countries. It is used as a dip, spray, soap, bath, liquid, powder, dust and oral feed premix.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) uses coumaphos in dip vats, located principally along the U.S./Mexico border, to control ticks that carry equine and bovine piroplasmosis (Texas Cattle Fever).
