ALCO PA - Wikipedia
The ALCO PA was a family of A1A-A1A diesel locomotives built to haul passenger trains. The locomotives were built in Schenectady, New York, in the United States, by a partnership of the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) and General Electric (GE) between June, 1946 and December, 1953.

The ALCO DL-109 units, built during World War II, were used for passenger service during the day, and freight at night. Their ALCO successors, the classy PA-1s, finished their years in freight service. The New Haven also extensively used Budd RDC-1, -2, and -3 Self-Propelled Rail Diesel Passenger Cars.

Obtained from the Santa Fe in December of 1967 and painted in a blue version of the Santa Fe’s "Warbonnet" scheme, the four famous ALCo PA-1s were used to upgrade the power on passenger trains between Albany and Montreal. The D&H owned a fifth PA, the ex-New Haven #0783, which was used for spare parts.

2024年8月23日 · The Smithsonian's Alco PA, former AT&SF #59-L, has since been donated to the Museum of the American Railroad in Texas. The goal now of the museum is to fully, cosmetically restore the locomotive (currently only an empty shell as well) back into its original AT&SF "Warbonnet" livery as #59-L.

New Haven Railroad DER-3a class ALCO PA-1 locomotive 0784 is seen while spotted on a siding in a yard area, ca late 1950's. So far this locomotive has not received either the McGinnis or Alpert paint schemes, and it keeps its old conventional standard green and yellow paint scheme.

New Haven Railroad DER-3a ALCO PA-1 locomotive # 0776 with a westbound passenger train is seen while stopped at the Route # 128 station platform across from Budd RDC-3 # 126, near Boston, Massachusetts, ca late 1950's. The first two coaches on the PA-1 led train appear to be of Pennsylvania Railroad orgin.
