Position the brass bar on the LEFT side of the rear sight on the bottom of the sight, not the top. Using firm blows with the hammer and being careful to keep the bar in position on the sight tap it out.

2020年9月15日 · This is especially important if the sight has a slight taper. With sharp slide dovetail edges, the sight will end up being shaved down to parallel. Much of the tight fit will be lost. Look carefully for a chamfer at the outer dovetail edges. If present, drive the sight out towards that side, and the new sight in from that side.

The slide is put in a fixture, the rear dovetail is supposed to be lubed. Ditto for the front if present. The sight(s) are put in place and a button pushed or lever ...

The spring that you saw was the one providing the " spring tension ". Its hard to explain things in words, but I hope you got the picture.

We whailed on that sight for about 10 minutes with "The God Hammer" which was a ball-peen hammer the size of your fist. The sight eventually let go, but what an ordeal.

2011年10月18日 · Just did mine yesterday on an old Commander (new to me.) Used a brass drift pin and brass hammer. Laid it on a piece of hardwood with the sight hanging over. Mine was hard to move at first (1970 birthdate), just had to hit it a little harder. There were alignment marks on both the slide and sight on mine.
