The Pentagon is temporarily pausing flights again of its V-22 Osprey fleet after weakened metals in a part inside one of the aircraft broke apart in flight in November, causing an engine failure and a near crash in New Mexico.

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The U.S. Marine Corps has resumed flying its MV-22B Ospreys days after the U.S. military grounded the entire tiltrotor fleet due to safety concerns, according to a 1st Marine Aircraft Wing spokesman.

The US military is again pausing flights of it troubled V-22 Osprey fleet “to determine if any additional safety measures are necessary,” a Navy spokesperson said Monday.

The Pentagon is temporarily halting flights of its fleet of V-22 Ospreys after weakened metal components were found in a part after a near crash in New Mexico in November.

It's the latest setback for the embattled aircraft, whose safety problems have grown and which lawmakers recently urged be grounded once more.
