A truck driver from suburban Oak Lawn was charged after a bomb threat led authorities to shut down a South Carolina interstate for hours, law enforcement said.
Interstate 85, near mile marker 44, was shut down for almost five hours on Thursday, as South Carolina State Law Enforcement worked to assess the scene of the bomb threat.
At that time, all six lanes on I-85 were shut down. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said SWAT and Bomb team members were called to assist just after 3:30 p.m.
Authorities identified Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, arrested for a bomb threat that shut down I-85 in SC. He faces multiple charges, including breach of peace.
