Mayo Clinic is suing Sanford Health Plan over more than 700-thousand dollars’ worth of medical bills. The Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic filed the lawsuit in Minnesota District Court a few weeks back in December.

Mayo Clinic is seeking $740,000 in the lawsuit, which claims a breach of contract and "negligent misrepresentation" in the case of one patient's hospital stay.

Christopher Snowbeck at the Star Tribune reports the Mayo Clinic has sued the health plan division of Sanford Health, saying misrepresentations by the South Dakota-based insurer have stuck the medical center in Rochester with more than $700,000 in unpaid medical bills for a patient treated more than two years ago.

Rochester's Mayo Clinic is suing health insurer Sanford Health Plan for not paying claims for a patient who was at Mayo Clinic for 52 days in 2022. In the lawsuit, Mayo Clinic alleges the patient was transferred to Rochester from North Dakota to receive a higher level of care.
