A new wolf pack has emerged in Northern California, wildlife officials confirmed this week, marking a continued resurgence of the endangered species.

Wildlife officials have announced the state's third new wolf pack of the year with the discovery of a breeding pair in the Sierra Valley.

The gray wolf (Canis lupus) is a recovering endangered species protected under the California Endangered Species Acts and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Federal Endangered Species Act.
