An elderly Laysan albatross named Wisdom is preparing to hatch yet another chick at the grand old age of 74, an achievement the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Pacific celebrated in a tweet this week.
The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) jubilantly announced the hatching of Philippine eagle Chick #30 on November 11. However, barely three weeks after, the joy turned to sadness when the bird died.
Celina Andrade’s 3rd through 5th grade special day class observed both the eggs and their hatching. Her students continue to observe the chicks regularly.
