In a major breakthrough following years of protests and strikes, the Union Government has agreed to give 95% reservation for Ladakh locals in all jobs. The government has also assured stakeholders of a discussion on Sixth Schedule and statehood for the Union Territory next month.

The lack of government recruitment in Ladakh since its separation from the former state of Jammu and Kashmir has been a major concern for its residents.

In a big breakthrough, the Centre has in-principle agreed to reserve 95 per cent gazetted officers posts for locals in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
