Pasta shells. Choose easy-to-fill jumbo pasta shells for this recipe. Jumbo shells are sold with the other kinds of pasta in the grocery store (often on the top shelf next to the lasagna noodles).
Add the shells, and cook for 8 to 9 minutes, or until they are tender but still have some bite. If not using a pasta pot, use a heatproof measuring cup to remove 1 cup of the cooking water.
