The new RSX will slot right under the existing ZDX electric vehicle in size, and it will be the first EV to be designed by Honda and built at the new Honda EV Hub in Ohio.

The new Acura RSX will also be the first EV produced at Honda’s new “EV Hub” in Ohio. The facilities at the Marysville Auto Plant, the East Liberty Auto Plant, and the Anna Engine Plant are undergoing a $700 million makeover and retooling. The Anna Engine Plant will be where the megacasting for Honda’s new Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) is made.

Acura announced today it’s desecrating another grave slapping its classic “RSX” nameplate onto an upcoming all-electric crossover. Said to be based heavily on the so-called Performance EV Concept we saw last year at Monterey Car Week in Pebble Beach, the machine will be the brand’s first EV produced at Honda EV Hub, located in Ohio.

The first-generation Acura RSX debuted in the US for the 2002 model year as a small liftback sports coupe occupying the bottom of the Acura range. This second-generation RSX continues the model line in name only as it will be a performance crossover EV.

Acura RSX will be an evolution of the Performance EV concept, built on the same dedicated platform that will underpin the Honda 0-series.

Acura will revive its RSX nameplate later this year for an electric crossover, the automaker has confirmed.

Acura will add a second electric SUV to its lineup this year, this time designed in-house, and once again recycling a name from the brand's past.

The first in-house EV for Acura in the U.S. adopts the RSX name. We knew Acura was working on its first homespun electric vehicle for the North American market, based on the Acura Performance EV Concept.
