Pantone has named an “evocative soft brown” its color of the year for 2025, continuing a tradition that has now run for more than a quarter of a century. In a statement published Thursday, the global color specialist said Mocha Mousse was “a mellow brown infused with a sensorial and comforting warmth.”

On Thursday, Pantone announced its 2025 color of the year: Mocha Mousse. Far softer than the “ Brat” green that dominated 2024, the shade is a nougaty brown that reminded Styles staff members of everything from luxury knitwear to swamp water.

Each year, Pantone announces a color of the year. That color is soon seen reflected in everything from kitchenware to fashion and beauty items. But this year’s color is a bit unique and turns out to be a perfect fit for a whole other category — cocktails!
