班加罗尔，官方名称本加卢鲁，是印度卡纳塔克邦的首府。班加罗尔人口超过一千万，为印度第三大城市，第五大都会区。班加罗尔位于印度南部的德干高原，海拔超过三千英尺。 班加罗尔神庙中的石刻铭文可追溯到公元890年左右，铭文中最早提到了“班加罗尔”这个名字。班加罗尔区域曾隶属于古印度的西恒伽王朝、朱罗王朝与曷萨拉王朝，其后的毗奢耶那伽罗王朝封建地主Kempe Gowda在公元1537年正式建都并取名班加卢鲁，Kempe Gowda 在此建立一座土城，其四周渐渐发展出商业市集，其后的都市与道路皆以此为轴心向外扩张。
